Prophets

Introduction to the Prophets and the Prophetic Message

When we hear the words prophet or prophecy, we usually think of the prediction of the future, such as the second coming of Jesus.  But prophecy, as we find in the Old Testament, was much more than future telling.  It was God’s attempt at a wake-up call for His people, people caught up in religious activity but spiritually dormant or dead.

So the prophets still have some things to say to us today in the 21st Century because the world in which we live is very similar to the days in which they walked the earth.  Though things may look a lot different, the hearts of people are still the same—deceived and rebellious against God.
